Your problem You have PDF documents with trim marks, but without the correct trim and bleed box. Download 'No-page-boxes.pdf' for an example PDF file that illustrates the problem. Our solution PitStop Professional can analyze a PDF document and find the trim marks for you. Based on the location of those trim marks, it can then set the correct trim box and bleed box. | 1. Using Global Change | | | Open the Global Change panel in PitStop Professional and follow these steps: - Use the "Define Page Box" action.
- In the list of options, select the trim box.
- Use the "Grab" button to grab from the current page, choosing the "trim box (by detection)" option to have PitStop Professional find the trim marks for you.
You can now set the other page boxes (add a bleed box for example). This global change can be run on a complete document or a range of pages.

| | | 2. Using an Action List | | | Go to the Action List panel and follow these steps: Open the default Action List database and in the "Page Boxes and printer marks" category select the Action List called "Set Trim and bleed box to Marks". Go to "Manage > Edit" to open this Action List for editing. Adjust the properties of the actions in the Action List to do exactly what you want.
You can run this Action List similarly as the Global Change. To allow easy access, you can even assign it to a QuickRun button so that running it on the open document requires only one click. |
Automation When you create an Action List to solve this problem, you can use that Action List in PitStop Server so that all PDF documents dropped in a watched folder are automatically picked up and fixed. |
