Visiting customers is always one of the most rewarding moments of my job. It’s a chance to step outside the Enfocus office and see how our software impacts real print shops. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Truyol, a standout print service provider in Alcorcón, Madrid, Spain — and what a story they have!
A Family Business with Vision
Truyol began back in 1983 as a small photography print shop. By the 1990s, they were already making bold moves, becoming the first in Madrid to invest in digital printing machines. Growth came quickly, but the real breakthrough happened after 2014, when they started embracing automation.
Not bad for a company that was processing only 100 jobs a day just a few years ago!
A Warm Welcome
On September 11, I arrived at Truyol with Pedro, our videographer. We were greeted by Marisa, the Marketing Director, Joaquín, the CEO, Alexandra, from the Marketing team, Miguel, the Automation Expert, and Walala, the friendly family dog, who followed us everywhere.
From the first handshake we felt the warmth of a company that’s more than just a workplace, it’s a family.
Leadership That Inspires
Miguel spoke with pride about Joaquín, the CEO:
He grew up in this business and shaped the company into what it is now. I’ve seen him come out from under printing equipment with his hands covered in grease. He knows every detail of this business.

That leadership has nurtured a culture where employees feel valued, respected, and eager to stay. As Miguel put it:
We are happy here, we feel like a family. Automation has allowed us to increase profit, improve salaries, and still offer lower prices to customers. Everyone wins.
Miguel Abarca, Automation Expert, Truyol
One of my favorite anecdotes? Joaquín once brought in a supermarket cart to move orders around the shop floor. At first, employees were puzzled, but it quickly became such a success that more carts were added. Sometimes, it’s the simple, clever ideas that make the biggest difference.
Embracing Automation with Switch
Truyol started using Enfocus Switch in 2018. For those new to Switch, here’s why it stands out as the most flexible and affordable automation platform in the graphic arts industry:
- Connectivity – it integrates with any app, hardware, or system.
- Appstore – hundreds of ready-to-use solutions for workflow challenges.
- Scripting – the sky’s the limit; if you can imagine it, you can make it happen.
At first, Truyol used Switch for just a single workflow. But once the team realized its full potential, they expanded rapidly, implementing endless processes across the company.
Miguel shared how he relies on support from the active, collaborative Switch user forum and the growing Appstore to complement and extend their workflows. He even developed custom apps and integrations to fit Truyol’s unique needs; proof of just how adaptable Switch can be.
The secret to maximizing the usage of your digital press
By combining Switch with PitStop, Truyol completely transformed prepress:
- From 10 prepress staff handling 100 jobs/day
- To 6 prepress staff managing 700–800 jobs/day (and during peak seasons even exceeding 1000)
- The other 4 team members were reassigned to customer service, where they now create added value for clients
Miguel summed it up perfectly:
There is no way we could achieve the smooth and efficient order processing for those 700-800 orders if it weren’t for PitStop and Switch. Without them, the prepress process would take hours, machines would sit idle, or we would have to stop the processes here and there. Thanks to Switch, we have a non-stop flow of orders to the machines and deliver without interruption.

That’s efficiency, scalability, and customer focus, all rolled into one. At Truyol, no two years have looked the same. Growth has meant regular building expansions, new equipment, new product offerings, and more colleagues joining the family.
We work with HP, Canon, Xerox, Fuji… We have many different machines that speak many different languages, and Switch helps us act as the translator to communicate with them all. It allows us to prepare the files perfectly for each case, starting from a single input file, and even output the same file prepared for different machines.

Ahead of Their Time
Miguel is very much the mastermind behind Truyol’s automation success. Long before web-to-print and MIS solutions were widely available off the shelf, Truyol had already developed their own systems in-house.
And yet, Enfocus software can integrate seamlessly with these custom-built tools. This flexibility has been key to their continued growth.
PitStop in Action
We also met Jonás from the prepress team, who appreciated how Enfocus keeps improving PitStop with every release. PitStop is essential for the quality check and correction of all possible technical aspects to be handled on a PDF file to get a perfect print.
Most importantly, despite having a fully automated environment, PitStop Pro continues to bring extra value for customer service and specific manual changes that are required by the customer.
At Truyol, they have also integrated Switch and PitStop Server into their online approval process which is another example of how they adapt tools to enhance the customer experience in their own webshop.
When Pedro and I were leaving, we were given a folder packed with Truyol’s product samples: calendars, puzzles, stickers, boxes, cards, and more. Each piece showed off different paper stocks, inks, and embellishments. It feels good to know that our software contributed to producing such consistent and beautiful results.
Final Thoughts
Truyol is a true example of what happens when visionary leadership, a committed team, and smart automation come together. Their journey from a small photography shop to a powerhouse of digital print is nothing short of inspiring.
And for us at Enfocus, it’s a reminder of why we do what we do: helping print shops like Truyol grow, evolve, and thrive.
